DJ and producer KIM SWIM is not afraid to swim against the tide. The emerging electronic artist is reshaping the scene with her non-conformist style, bending the rules and breaking the mold.
Originally from South Korea and currently based in Berlin, KIM grew up in various cities across Germany, which helped shape her eclectic musical identity. Her journey took a bold turn when she dropped out of law school just shy of graduation to follow her true passion: music.
This daring decision has paid off. KIM rapidly made a name for herself in Germany, particularly in Berlin’s dynamic nightlife, where she has graced the stages of renowned venues such as RSO, Funkhaus, Porzellan Bar, HÖR, and Watergate. Her residencies at DNA in Munich, Gotec in Karlsruhe, and Porzellan Bar in Berlin reflect her deep commitment to the scene and her ability to captivate audiences.
KIM’s international impact is equally remarkable, performing at iconic locations such as RADION in Amsterdam, Modular in Cape Town, Defected Basement in London, and underground hotspots like Noh in Istanbul.
In 2024, KIM released two standout tracks—one with the Berlin underground label Porzellan Bar and another featured in a compilation from Hot Meal Records, alongside prominent names like Bad Boombox and Mischluft. These releases have further solidified her reputation as an up-and-coming producer in the electronic music world.
KIM SWIM’s sound is a vibrant fusion of genres, seamlessly blending funky house grooves, bouncy techno, up-tempo trance, hard house, breakbeat, baile funk, and more. Guided by her belief that “music is fluid, and in the end, it’s all about energy,” she continuously pushes the boundaries of electronic music, creating high-energy experiences that resonate with a diverse range of listeners.
